First American Home Warranty Review

First American Home Warranty Plans Review

First American Home Warranty is ranked second in our 2021 Best Home Warranty Companies Ranking, just behind Liberty Home Guard. First American Home Warranty had the lowest monthly rates for complete coverage when compared with the other 10 home warranties we rated. We used a 2,345-square foot archetype Austin home to compare the data for each company that made our rating.

First American has an advantage in that there is a $85 fixed service fee each time you call a trade technician. Service fees charged by competitors can range from $60 to $150.

First American is not available for homeowners in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware and Hawaii.

First American offers a variety of coverages, but it does not offer roof coverage. Many of the competitors in our rating offer roof protection as an option or part of a plan.

First American offers two home warranty plans, the Basic plan or the Premier plan. Most home warranty providers we rated have at least three plans.

First American Home Warranty Plans

Before you decide on the home warranty plan that best suits you, it is important to understand what it covers. A home warranty differs from homeowners insurance. A home warranty covers a home's interior items, while homeowners insurance covers theft and structural damage due to acts of nature, fire, or water. The home warranty covers kitchen appliances, washers and dryers as well as electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems. The coverage and exclusions of items can vary depending on the company and plan.
