Choice Home Warranty plans provide comprehensive protection against major appliances and systems breaking down or needing to be replaced. CHW covers appliances like refrigerators and dishwashers that are damaged by normal use.
Choice Home Warranty covers major appliances and systems under their contracts. A Choice plan covers all major systems, including heating, plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning.
Air conditioning
All components and parts of an air conditioner will be covered under the Choice Home Warranty plan. A ducted air conditioner unit should have a maximum capacity of five tons. It should only be used for residential purposes. Do not include window and ductless units.
Heating
Your heating system's components and parts will be covered by your contract. This coverage does not include heat pumps, underground pipes, fireplaces and outdoor grills as well as heat lamps.
Plumbing
Plumbing problems are inevitable at some point. All plumbing issues are covered, including leaks and breaks (except when they are caused by freezing, tree roots), toilet tank problems, bowls and mechanisms as well as valves, whirlpool engines and clogs up to 100 feet in the sewer lines.
Electrical System
Your Electrical System is protected up to $500 and covers most of your home's components.
Coverage length
Choice Home Warranty coverage starts exactly 30 days after enrollment, and ends 365 days or one year after the date of start. Choice will immediately start your new plan if you are covered by another home warranty company. You can renew your plan year after year.
Limitations on coverage
Choice Home Warranty doesn't cover any failure or malfunction caused by insufficient maintenance--including rust or corrosion--collapsed ductwork or pre-existing conditions.
Be familiar with the Choice Home Warranty terms and conditions of service. There could be limitations to coverage for certain appliances or systems. Online, you can view a sample contract to help you understand what is covered and what isn't. The Electrical System coverage does not cover smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms. All other electrical components and parts are covered, even bathroom exhaust fans.
Choice will not deny coverage for your home if your appliances or systems are in good condition and maintained properly. Home repairs and replacements occurring after the plan's inception are covered by the home warranty plan. Everyday wear and tear. A Choice Home Warranty plan can be a viable option if you are moving into an older house and don't know how long the systems or appliances will last.
You don't want the burden of paying for something that you just bought. It's also not a good idea to pay for repairs or replacements of expensive appliances or systems that were covered by your home warranty plan. You have the option of two plans, Choice, that cover major appliances and systems. You can also customize your home warranty coverage with optional coverage such as your pool, second refrigerator and septic system.
